Leaked images of the upcoming Nikon D800 have surfaced, and initial specs might be drool-worthy, at least for those counting megapixels and video framerates, as Nikon is rumored to launch its digital SLR with the biggest pixel count so far.

A bit of a surprise emerges by way of the folks out at Nikon today–seems they’ve been a little busy out in Japan, having taken out a Japanese patent on a way to expand their game from projectors in cameras to projectors in the much heftier DSLR system.

Sure, it’s cool to rotate the lens ring to zoom and focus when you’re using a digital SLR. But with today’s modern DSLRs that can take high definition movies, zooming while keeping focused can be cumbersome. Nikon may have just found a solution.
